Along with this growth in the social media industry has come the need for a set of standards and best practices to ensure the continued growth and maturity of this industry.

IFSMART (International Foundation for Social Media Advancements for Resources and Technology) was founded on the concept that it was time to advance social media to the next level by forming a foundation that brings together experts, laypeople, clients, and corporations to map out the future of the social media industry. This includes developing and providing best practices for the industry, additional education tools and resources, and a uniform way to identify skill set for social media professionals through a certification.
